What to Expect at your Newborn Session

nhrphotography8

  • There is no need for you to clean your house! I’m a mom to three kids and completely understand that life gets messy sometimes. All I need is a cleared area (approximately x by x feet) to set up my gear; that could be a dining room with the table moved off to the side or a living /family room with a coffee table moved. I will need access to one outlet.

  • It will take me about 20 minutes to bring in my gear and set up. If it works for you, that may be a good time to feed the baby, so that he/she might be sleepy for the photos.

  • If there are siblings, I will try to take those photos first. I can also take some lifestyle photos at this time, in the nursery or any room you choose that has good window light.

  • When taking the ‘baby only’ images on the beanbag, I will start off by wrapping the baby; this helps to keep the baby warm and sleepy. After that, I will transition to the props; some with the baby wrapped and others in some outfits. I will bring some outfits with me. If you have one special outfit or item that you would like to see in a photo, please let me know.

  • My absolute priority is the safety of your child. I will only put them in safe poses, with either mom or dad as a spotter. Some of the trendy photos you see are clearly unnatural poses for a newborn. Although some of them can be done safely, I will not use the pose if I am not comfortable with it. As I said, the comfort and safety of your newborn is of the utmost importance.

  • Once all the images are done, it will take me about 20 minutes to pack up my gear.

  • Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! I can’t wait to work with you!
